A Community Awareness Project

Mission: To help stop child abuse by providing inspiring and motivating information
that promotes pro-action, advocacy and healing.

I believe that people want to stop child abuse but don't know how. They know what NOT to do but don't know what TO DO. They need lots of ideas, realistic steps, and guidance.

To stop child abuse we must create an environment where it cannot thrive.

The intended audience of this project is primarily those people, who through the privacy of their own home or workplace, can access a list of ideas; a site that will make them feel good about what they already do and encourage them to do more.

The statistics are staggering. According to the National Council on Child Abuse and Family Violence (www.nccafv.org/child.htm), over 2.5 million reports of child abuse are made in the United States each year. Although not every report will result in a confirmed case of child abuse, clearly we have a lot of work ahead of us to keep children safe.

Child abuse and recovery is still talked about in whispers for fear of labeling. And yet talking about it, exploring it from every perspective - victim, offender, enabler, bystander - is the only way we will truly learn what needs to be done to heal and stop the cycle. And it can be done! That's the good news. But we have to get a lot more vocal and a lot more proactive. For the children, for the victims, for everyone. And not because "children are our future." Children are not OUR future. It's not about us. It's about them. And they deserve a safe, healthy, nurturing environment simply because they are here. Their presence truly is a gift and one to be cherished.

As you explore this site, acknowledge all the things you're doing that's nurturing, encouraging, and supportive.

With your help, we can stop child abuse.

Thank you for being part of the solution!
