A short list of books/videos that have helped in my recovery or that may inspire you.
Marilyn VanDerbur
In her award-winning book, Miss America By Day, Marilyn shares her story of sexual abuse by her father and her years of recovery. She has devoted much of her adult life to raising national awareness and understanding of sexual abuse and its long-term effects. She is an award winning author, motivational speaker, film producer and an inspiration to many.
The Moon and You by Barbara Hannelore is a celebration of women's cycles and sacred knowledge. This book guides the reader to explore and understand their own rhythms and self-care practices around the time of their menstrual cycles. It encourages women and girls to embrace the feminine spirit in self and others by reminding them of a time when women's monthly cycles were honored as an important part of life. Plus, the author shares lots of practical tips for an easier and more sacred cycle.
Miss Representation
