Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)
The CRC, adopted in 1989 by a UN General Assembly, is the most widely ratified human rights treaty in history. It is well worth the read and your support. Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline
1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for crisis intervention, information, literature, and referrals.
Boys Town National Hotline
1-800-448-3000. Offers crisis, resource and referral for both child and adults (male and female) 24/7, 365 days a year. Some reasons to call: depression, suicide, abuse, addiction, gang violence, fighting with a friend or parent, or faced with an overwhelming challenge.
National Domestic Violence Hotline
1-800-799-7233 (799-SAFE) 24/7 Provides crisis intervention, information and referral to victims of domestic violence, perpetrators, friends and families.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
1-800-273-8255 (273-TALK) 24/7 Available to anyone in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. Your call will be routed to the crisis center nearest you.
Warmline Directory
Warmlines are for callers who may not be in crisis but are still seeking some level of support. They are generally staffed by trained peer specialists who listen, offer ideas and hope based on their own experience in recovery.

Easy to understand legal information and resources for women living with or escaping domestic violence or sexual assault. Lots of information and an email hotline.

POSITIVE NEWS SITES
Good Good Good
Reports on positive and uplifting news with a focus on "real good news" over "feel good news." They highlight the helpers working to create solutions to the world's problems, big or small.
Reasons to be Cheerful
A nonprofit online magazine that shares stories that balance a sense of healthy optimism with journalistic rigor, and find cause for hope. It aims to inspire all to be curious about how the world can be better, and to ask ourselves how we can be part of that change.
Squirrel News
Offers a counter-balance and respite from the negativity of mainstream media, and the clickbait, doomsday and profit-driven journalism that often comes with it.
REHAB / RECOVERY
Drug Rehab
This site provides researched, fact-based resources for free. Learn about the risks of various substances including prescription drugs, the latest approaches to treatment and real stories of recovery. Here are just three examples of some good reads: Are you helping or enabling under the Active Recovery tab, Co-occurring disorders and PTSD and Addiction, under the Addiction tab. The articles are written in plain language making them easy to understand.
American Addiction Centers
The largest network of rehab centers in the U.S., located in 7 states. "Our purpose and passion is to empower you, your family, and your community by helping you achieve recovery and optimal wellness of the mind, body, and spirit." The rehab-guide page has lots of info, such as: detailing different types of rehab, questions to ask a provider, other supporting resources (ex. holistic options, co-dependent relationships, etc.).

Recovery Village
With several treatment facilities, they offer "Top of the line medical care, combined with wellness programs and holistic addiction treatments such as yoga and meditation, massage and equine resources mean we are dedicated to healing the whole self." The site provides lots of info, but the following link focuses on teen abuse and addiction issues, including peer pressure and signs to look for.
