Imagine tomorrow

You wake up and do not check your phone for messages. You do not turn on the TV or listen to a podcast or engage in social media—because THIS is YOUR day to reconnect with the wonder of your world.

Imagine tomorrow you start with a positive statement, one that you created tonight for that purpose. And tomorrow, before you get out of bed, you write (with pen and paper) about the value you bring to the world—your art, your smile, your patience, your kindness…

Imagine tomorrow you give the gift of being yourself to yourself and those around you, wherever you are. You don’t compare yourself to others. You don’t live vicariously through others and you don’t shroud yourself in a layer of over-protection that stops any part of you from being authentic. Tomorrow you are free because you choose to be free.

Imagine tomorrow is a day of discovery to explore what you have been missing  without distraction from known negative streams. Imagine the extra time you’ll have to appreciate what you enjoy.

Imagine the gift you give yourself by turning off all the what-everyone-else-thinks-and-is-doing input and experience the day truly from your perspective and your light.

Unplug for one day from the media and from people that don’t respect you and revel in your authentic energy, allowing it to ebb and flow like soft ocean waves.

When the urge to engage an old habit strikes:

  • Shake it off, like a dog after a swim in the lake. It’s just for today.

  • Do some stretching and release a pattern that no longer serves you.

  • Remember your commitment to the day and yourself.

  • Note any anxiety as a passing reminder. Say Thanks, I got this.

It’s like your alarm blaring with a reminder to get ready for work.

Then you remember: Oh yeah! I’m taking the day off!

No drama. Simply turn off the reminder and enjoy this new day.

  • Congratulate yourself for letting another habit urge pass you by.

  • Too late, the habit struck! Laugh it off. You’ll catch the next one.

Imagine how you will feel tomorrow evening after an entire day of allowing yourself to feel grateful, happy, and connected—one huge aaahhh! moment. Imagine the peace. Imagine the smile your heart makes. Imagine what you’ll do next!

BONUS: Is nighttime a challenge? Try these:

  • Read a physical book.

  • Start a project (like art, knit/crochet, woodworking).

  • Play a game (think Monopoly, Scrabble, or Quiddler) with live people.

  • Go for a casual walk.

  • Do some stretching.

  • Watch the sunset.

  • Gather with a couple of like-minded people to enjoy each other’s company.

BONUS: From my blog post Peace Unexpected

“They cut power to the island before [Hurricane] Iniki hit as a precaution. Days later, it was still not restored leaving a quiet offering, a deep connection in the silence created without the buzz of various electronics. You don't realize just how quiet it can become until the machinery shuts down. And if you allow the quiet to permeate your senses, the magic in what you now hear can be truly profound as you are left with only the wonder that is you and your natural surroundings.”
