Simple things, using your 'voice'

In scary times, it’s a natural reaction to withdraw, keep quiet, and protect ourselves until the scary parts go away. And that’s exactly what offenders—criminals—whether personal, political, or corporate, rely on—fear. Yet they are also driven by fear. It’s a vicious cycle.

For the rest of us, and to defuse some of the fear, now is not the time to be silent. You don’t have to shout from the rooftops, or start a peace march or an action campaign — but you can. So while you are signing petitions, writing your legislators, making sure to be a role model for more of what you want to see, now is a good time to be reminded of all the good in the world. In fact, we need these reminders of goodness all the time to set examples for others and to drown out the loud but minority of hate, cruelty, and greed that is trying to take over. That’s not who we are. You know it. I know it. Let’s do something about it!

Here are a few images within a 3-ish mile radius in the neighborhood. I’m heartened to see the simple things people do that can make such a big difference to the observer. They are using their ‘voice,’ generating a smile and that energy radiates creating a sense of unity.

Simple things, really. The more the merrier! What's in your front yard?
